Weldon Irvine, known for releasing numerous masterpieces in the 1970s, including Spirit Man from RCA Victor and Sinbad, which features his signature track "I Love You" is the artist behind The Sisters. This album brings together recordings made during the same period, alongside collaborators like Don Blackman, with whom he worked closely, and a young Marcus Miller. Despite being created in the late 70s, these tracks remained unreleased until 1998.

The album opens with "Morning Sunrise," a sublime mellow soul track featuring Don Blackman's smooth vocals, which were later sampled by artists like Jay-Z and Drake.
