As the worldwide City Pop boom continues to grow, Masayoshi Takanaka and CASIOPEA, both major forces in Japan's fusion scene, are once again attracting widespread attention.
Among them, CASIOPEA has remained active internationally since its debut. After releases on ALFA Records and Polydor, the band moved to Pioneer LDC, now NBCUniversal, in 1990. With Yoshihiro Naruse joining on bass and Masaaki Hiyama on drums, CASIOPEA entered a new phase with its 14th album.
The release is the landmark first album from this new chapter, "The Party." Filled with the intensity and excitement of the new lineup, the album features a wealth of upbeat, groove-driven classics, including "CYBER ZONE," which remains a live favorite today, and "FLUSH UP," which was used for two years as the theme song for the ANN network program "530 Station."
