Rei Harakami's second album, "opa*q," has been remastered by Yoshinori Sunahara and will be released as his first ever 2LP vinyl album!!
"opa*q" is Ray Harakami's second album and one of his early works. Released in 1999, a year after his groundbreaking debut album "unrest," it was re-released in 2005 as a special edition with two bonus tracks. Considered a masterpiece of the Japanese techno scene, it was a highly anticipated LP release. It includes remixes "on" by ian o'brien and "double flat" by max404, attracting considerable attention from club listeners at the time. Even today, it retains its freshness, a representative work of Harakami's bouncy, toy-like sound. Like the reissued CD, it includes liner notes by Akito Katayose (GREAT3)!
"opa*q" begins with the fresh yet surprisingly sophisticated "glimglim" and ends with the meticulously constructed, exhilarating beat of "schw schw." With its delicate melodies and harmonies, unpredictable rhythms, and unsettling soundscapes, it stands out as one of the finest albums left behind by Rei Harakami. We are finally able to release this album on vinyl. We hope you enjoy listening to this newly remastered record. (Masaaki Hara, rings producer)
"Initially, I was planning to release a single with two remixes, but then I thought, if it's going to be a CD, I want to include more tracks, and somehow it ended up feeling like an album. I'm doing what I love, while still being mindful of others." (rei harakami) - From reiharakami's website -
