Mutant, in partnership with Sony Classical, are proud to present the premiere physical media release of Michael Giacchino's original score to Academy Award®-winning filmmaker Taika Waititi's latest film Klara and the Sun.
Based on the Sunday times Bestselling novel by Nobel Prize winning author Kazuo Ishiguro, Klara and the Sun tells the story of an Artificial Friend's philosophical and theological relationship to the young human girl she is assigned to befriend. Despite the twee inherent in the premise, Klara is a story about humanity's relationship to family, faith, fear and forgiveness.
Academy Award®-winning composer Michael Giacchino easily finds the beauty inherent in the story, capturing the world of Klara with delicate strings and a holy chorus of vocalists. It is twinkling, and wide-eyed like its protagonist, through her first steps into world, and all of the beautiful and terrifying lessons she learns along the way. It is one of Michael's most tender scores, and one that we at Mutant are proud to release.
