Ryuichi Sakamoto’s single "G.T." is being reissued on color vinyl.
Originally released as an advance single from the 1986 album "Futurista," "G.T." is now being reissued on color vinyl. "G.T." is an abbreviation of the Italian phrase "Grand Turismo," meaning a grand journey, and true to its title, it is a speed-filled, danceable electric funk tune. On vocals is Bernard Fowler, a member of the New York group NYC Peech Boys, which was produced by the legendary New York DJ Larry Levan, and also known for his work as a backing vocalist for The Rolling Stones.
In contrast to "G.T.," "Parolibre," featured on Side B, is a piano-centered piece reminiscent of a Chopin prelude, with Kaori Kano contributing vocalise and Arto Lindsay on guitar. It later continued to be performed in piano trio and piano solo formats, and remains one of Ryuichi Sakamoto’s representative works. The remastering was handled by Heba Kadry, who also worked on the 2024 analog reissue of "Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence."
