A legendary Hong Kong girl pop/city pop album, featuring Japanese vocals, is being reissued on CD/LP in 2026 with the latest remastering!
Shirley Kwan, a Hong Kong singer/actress born in 1966, recorded a demo tape at Japan's "Marine Blue Kayō Contest," won the grand prize, and made her Japanese debut with Apollon Music Industries with the bold phrase "Hideaki Tokunaga's younger sister." She has established a strong following in her home country and continues to be loved by many.
This album, released in 1990, is her second release during her active period in Japan, following "Say Goodbye" (1989), a Japanese-language album that was reissued by Sad Disco in 2022 and became a smash hit. While her previous work featured all-Japanese lyrics and a girl-pop/city-pop sound, this album shines with its mix of English and Japanese lyrics and a more internationally-influenced style, making it a truly "borderless" work. It would not be an exaggeration to say that this album captures the moment when her talent, which would later lead her to reign as the queen of R&B in Hong Kong, truly blossomed.
