Five Oasis Moments We Love
Call us hopeless romantics, but we can't let go of the idea that music has the power to transcend generations, borders, species, parental relationships (if you’re lucky), and sometimes even the fiercest sibling rivalries. As the Gallagher brothers and Oasis continue their world tour in the wake of their two-night stint at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, CA (we hear some folks are still trying to find their way out of the parking lot nearly a month later), we're reminded of why we fell in love with them in the first place.

It wasn't just the sing-along anthems or the swagger alone; but rather, some kind of rare immediacy and realness in the face of the hopelessly commercial landscape that permeated music at the height of the CD Era in the late 1990s. In spite of all the noise generated by competing homegrown media products from this side of the pond (see: boy bands, rap rock, etc), some were lucky to recognize in the band the raw, unfiltered humanity behind it all. It wasn’t easy to get familiar with this side of Oasis, though. Here in the states, while the band’s biggest songs reached god-status radio play, we rarely saw or heard of them in mainstream US press outlets or on the road.Â

We’d be lucky to see a footnote in Rolling Stone or Spin updating us on the catchall kitchen sink "Britpop" phenomenon, maybe the epic crash out at the MTV Unplugged session, and of course the "rivalry" between the band and Blur (many AOL chatrooms debated this topic in the early-internet days and many friendships were formed and destroyed as a result). For most, a trip to Borders or the most well-curated local book and record shops of the day to score a copy of Q Magazine became essential to keep up with the goings on. Let's be honest, if you were really paying attention, even if you didn't like Oasis (at the time), you were probably doing this anyway. Â

At some point, the internet and YouTube cursed and blessed us with endless content and a window into the myriad fandom rabbit holes we craved, including Twitter and video vignettes feat. Brothers Gallagher, previously only available in PAL format or taped off a foreign TV channel and transferred to digital and passed around on various fan sites and message boards. Read on for a few of our favorites over the years...
In a world of carefully managed personas, Oasis passed the vibe-check time and time again. And since their 2009 hiatus, more of us have had the opportunity to see why so many fell in love with them in the first place. From Liam’s Twitter account to tea-making Ted Talks, we here at Light in the Attic are taking some well-needed time off from spinning Falling Down (A Monstrous Psychedelic Bubble Exploding In Your Mind) on repeat to celebrate the band's return and the opportunity it presents us to come together and remember the good times.Â
Here are five of our favorite Liam and Noel moments (in no specific order):

Noel on Hot Ones

Liam Interviewed by Kids
Children asking questions is always unpredictable, and Liam Gallagher being interviewed by kids is exactly as chaotic and charming as it sounds.Â
