The Talbot Brothers of Bermuda

The Talbot Brothers of Bermuda

MALR003
Release Notes
  • Originally released in 1958
  • Top band of Bahamas calypso

The Talbots were one of the first notable vocal groups from Bermuda to gain international acclaim. The group frequently performed for television in the 1950s, appearing on Ed Sullivan’s variety shows and other programs. The Talbots performed Trinidadian calypso in a smooth melodic style, influenced by popular music. Notable in the group’s instrumentation was Roy Talbot’s home-made upright bass, created out of a large meat-packing crate and a single fishing line. This LP, presented here as a splendid vinyl reissue, was originally released in 1958 by ABC-Paramount.
