  • The Supreme Jubilees - It'll All Be Over | Pre-order!

If God had a disco, the DJ would be playing California gospel-soul group The Supreme Jubilees. Released in 1980 on the group's own S&K (Sanders & Kingsby) label, It'll All Be Over pinpoints a fatalistic mood exemplified by the title, its lyrics drawn from the Old Testament, its sound from the church by way of the disco, and its feel captured by the album cover-a low, orange sun setting over the Pacific Ocean. Pre-order Now!! Read more

  • A Day in Los Angeles with Michael Chapman

Just last week the road warrior Michael Chapman wrapped up his North America tour. The good word from the man himself is he's already hitting the road in Europe...an inspiration indeed. We had the supreme pleasure of putting Michael up while he was in Los Angeles for his first show on the Bill Callahan leg of the tour. What a time we had. We showed him around town, including stops at Amoeba in Hollywood, Reuben Cox's Old Style Guitar Shop in Silverlake, and a great meet up with Fully Qualified Survivor arranger Paul Buckmaster. Here's a few photos (and a video) of the day. See ya out there next time... Read more
  • Record Store of the Week: Melody Supreme (Charlottesville, VA)!

Just a few months ago, we featured a great record store in Richmond, Virginia called Steady Sounds. Well looky looky we goin' kooky again for another VA record store, our Record Store of the Week: Melody Supreme (Charlottesville, VA)! Well Virginia may be for lovers but apparently it's also for lovers of vinyl as both these stores--just a short drive on I-64 from each other--are stocking up on tons of essential vinyl releases both new and used. Last week, we set down with Melody Supreme's owner Gwenael Berthy to talk a bit about his shop, the so-called "rebirth of vinyl" and the mysterious record-digging elves of Virginia... Read more
  • Distro Tango! Heavy Indonesian Prog/Psych/Funk from Now-Again!

Now-Again are kicking up some dust with this one. Those Shocking Shaking Days: Indonesian Hard, Psychedelic, Progressive Rock and Funk: 1970 - 1978 is a supreme collection of the largely undocumented Indonesian scene in the 70s. This scene suffered a similar fate of others around the globe at that time--insane dictators imposing strict cencorship codes that led to tons of great music languishing in vaults, at best, and being destroyed, at worst. Times were heavy! But Those Shocking Shaking Days proves that you can't keep a good fuzz guitar down! Read more

  • ...in case you missed us: Video from the Space 15 Twenty Record Fair

On Sunday, September 26 with a heat wave strong enough to make the devil sweat, the Light In The Attic crew descended upon Space 15 Twenty Record Fair (presented by B-Music / Finders Keepers Records). We met a lot of great people, picked up a few cool LPs for ourselves, and reached the supreme goal of hooking up the masses with their favorite distrubuted titles and releases from Light In The Attic. If you couldn't make it (hey, it's not our fault if you live 3,000 miles away!), then check out the lil' video we made to show you all the fun we had. Thanks to Mahssa Taghinia for stepping in front of the camera for us! Read more
