After 5 years in the making, we’re ecstatic to announce that next week will mark the West Coast premiere of Wheedle’s Groove, a feature length documentary chronicling the Seattle soul scene of the late ’60s / early ’70s.
Tuesday, November 10th, 6 PM
@ The 26th Annual Olympia Film Festival:
206 East Fifth Avenue
Olympia WA
(360) 754-6670
Director Jennifer Maas, along with a handful of the Wheedle’s Groove artists will be in attendance to answer questions after the premiere, including Robbie Hill (Family Affair, Black On White Affair) and Jamar Jenkins (Cold, Bold & Together). And a few folks from Light In The Attic will be in the house as well. Come down, check it out, and say hello.
And in the meantime, this Sunday morning catch Overton Berry performing live on “Under The Influence” with host David Newman on web radio station Hollow Earth Radio – sometime around 10 am to noon PST. Overton is a Seattle legend going back to the 1962 World’s Fair, and of course the man behind that infectious cover of “Hey Jude” from the 2004 comp, Wheedle’s Groove: Seattle’s Finest in Funk & Soul 1965-75. And quite possibly the classiest dude on the planet!
